There is not one Indie author that has told her the road has been an easy one. As a wife, mother of three, and former teacher she can say the transition has been a long one. She lives in Pleasant Point, New Zealand a small town of 2,500. Since early childhood, she had envisioned writing stories that would capture readers’ hearts, but life got in the way.
Dealing with abuse, PTSD, and drug addiction, she turned down her application for a writing scholarship. A few years later, having been beaten on death’s door a few more times, she overcame her addiction to become a teacher. She developed fibromyalgia and still battled PTSD.

Through the management of these, she realised she still had a vision and experience to draw from. Everybody loves to ask her what genre the Trilogy is, but she finds it hard to label her writing. Her books break boundaries and speak of ‘un-labelling’ yourself. Conquering mental health means breaking contemporary boundaries to combine romance, poetry, and mental health.
The tribulation of self-discovery within the intoxication of romance.
With a whole lot of attitude and hard work Beautifully Broken is on its sixth print run. She mucked up the worldwide launch as she was so busy here in New Zealand but am incredibly grateful to hire a PA this time around with Beautifully Breaking. She can also now include that a Hollywood screenwriter is rewriting Beautifully Broken as a screenplay, which is set to be finalised in August 2023.
It can be read as a standalone, it is the second in the Beautifully Becoming Trilogy and is based on Emma’s experiences with abuse, PTSD, and drug addiction.
Please note the Becoming Trilogy name change, as readers have preferred it over the Good Girl, Bad Girl Trilogy. While there has been interest from publishers, Contemporary Reflections and she has come to an agreement that the Becoming Trilogy will stay self-published.
She loves she was told to focus on romance and selling e-books however her Paperbacks sell 99% to one ebook. This shows that you don’t need to follow everyone’s advice and readers know what they want!

Her editor was not happy she told readers there were bonus points if they found hints as to why within the book but she loves the relationship she gets with readers. Although she struggles to keep up, she is much closer as an indie author. This is not your average suburbia rag-to-riches story. For she is doing many things.
But mostly she is her.
From the Beautifully Broken trilogy:
She holds in her hands something unique. A realistic account of PTSD, with a trajectory towards literally fiction. Bucking the trends, she derailed the narrative that was her life. For aspects of her life have been both a blessing and a curse. Private passions don’t always cultivate a clear-cut answer. Art, love and transformation will always ebb in her soul. But finding her own path has allowed her time and space to find the answers.
It wrote her as much as she wrote it.
