Being Mature | Vindya Ayyar

Writer: Bespoke DiariesBespoke Diaries

What is maturity?

We keep talking (bragging mostly) that we are mature enough to understand issues and can act accordingly. It's a smart option to project oneself as a balanced person, and the mask does get ripped off when personally affected. Being human, Being positive, Being flexible, and Being...... etc. etc...There is no dearth of definitions. Most of us have become expert in explaining the theory.

It's due to oversupply of content but understanding level of it is still on the low scale. We are rhetorically ideal to all, because one or two motivational speeches and a few forwards make us feel equipped that we are mature. But... Actually it’s not easy to be a mature person.

A few examples…

1. We are most likely to lose our matured behaviour in religious issues. We arm ourselves to fight. Talking about inclusion is restricted only to books but find it difficult to tolerate another religion.

2. Encourage love marriages, live in relationships, or LGBTQR in movies or stories, If it happens in our own family or with friends...we tend to show our true colour, which is highly shaded by dark thoughts.

3. Treating women as an object, or forcing oneself by the name of emotion or desires. These people have been really poor in their mental maturity. It's indeed a selfish attempt, definitely not progressive, and it's truly annoying when they speak to women with motives.

4. Another typical quality is not treating their own domestic help properly. They can give lectures, Show empathy visually, and sob when they watch movies. Sadly, in real life they tend to ignore, and usually show an entitled behaviour. What are the signs of a mature person?

1. Being comfortable even when left alone

2. Showing empathy without conditions

3. Taking responsibility

4. Believing and practicing acceptability

5. Respect other's opinion.

6. Integrity

7. Having intangible goals

8. Give advice only when asked

9. Respecting personal space of others

10. Giving without expecting

If you feel connected to these 10 points, it’s a strong sign that you are mature
