Life before badminton:
Chirag was born and brought up in Kashipur small city in U.S Nagar, Uttarakhand. He completed his schooling at Templeton College now (G.D Goenka) and was a school topper in the Intermediate class. And Graduated from Kumaun University with First Class Scoring. He was a UPSC Aspirant in 2017 but with his selection in Indian Team for World Championship, he opted for Badminton as his Professional Career.
Afterward, Chirag took training under Gaurav Khanna in 2018, Gaurav Khanna is also a National Coach for Indian Para-Badminton Team. Chirag's earlier coaches were Nirmala Pant Shreyas G.S Ankit Rawat. Chirag was introduced into Para-Badminton by Arjuna Awardee Manoj Sarkar.
Beginning of Para-Badminton:
Chirag was born and brought up in a sporty environment on the campus of Surya Roshni Limited, Kashipur. At an early age, he was an all-rounder and used to play Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, etc. irrespective of his disability. The initial start of Badminton took place from his birthplace only i.e., Surya Roshni Limited. Chirag started to play Para-Badminton in 2013, but due to academic pressure, he couldn't continue and came back in 2017.
Chirag was defeated for the first time, National Champion of last 5 years at National Championship in Varanasi in 2018. Chirag played his first International Debut match in November 2017. And since then, he has played in more than 15 International Tournaments and secured a total of 6 International medals including 1 Gold.
Sporting Career:
Chirag is currently ranked at No.2 in the National Ranking and Number 10 in the International ranking latest as of May 2021. Chirag started his International career in 2017, with World Championship in South Korea 2017, where he finished being a Quarter Finalist. Later on, he achieved a Bronze medal in Asian Youth Para Games in December 2017 held in Dubai, UAE.
Further, he achieved a Bronze medal in Asian Para Games 2018 held in Jakarta, Indonesia. In addition to it, Chirag also achieved Double Delight of Gold in Men’s Singles and Silver in Men’s Doubles at Uganda Para-Badminton International in 2019. Also a Silver medal at Denmark Para-Badminton International in 2019.

Awarded Outstanding Player of the Tournament in National Championship 2018 in Varanasi, U.P.
