“Do as much good as you can, to as many as you can, on as many occasions as you can and as long as you can!” These insightful words have had deep significance in my life where I make the most of it by doing good deeds and actions. My urge to solving problems and empowering people to change their lives has led me to realize that contributing to the service to humanity is the most sublime way of making life worth living.
It all started at The Technical University of Kenya where I was pursuing Mechanical engineering, where I decided in volunteering for activities that would mobilize the youth to find their way to prosperity by providing them relevant opportunities that best suites their potentials. Hence, that turned out to be my first step towards what we normally refer to as - GIVING BACK TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT. Impact involves generating results, and for results, you need strategy.
As days passed by, I managed to become the youth advocate in our university and started working towards spreading the passion I had for my vision - to do everything possible for the people around you.
Unemployment is a significant concern in Kenya and therefore, it has always been my dream to work towards reducing this problem to the best of my ability by establishing a foundation that could create employment for the unemployed. Much to my surprise, a foundation spearheaded by Centum investment company in association with Master card, noticed my efforts while I was volunteering in college and offered to supervise and co-ordinate CSR activities.
This foundation raised almost USD 1.4 million to create employment for the youth of Kenya where we managed to purchase computers, establish studios for talented youngsters, set up centers for providing all other necessary infrastructure that would result in rendering the pillar of support for those in need.
As time passed by, I was appointed as the as the team leader and brand ambassador of AJIRY, a job seeking / placement and a youth empowerment platform, which focused in achieving various aspects in the job placement industry especially for the younger generation.
I went ahead to partner with various organizations and institutions for providing free courses and establish part / full time employments for people. With time, we managed to successfully connect over 5,000 young people to jobs and investment opportunities and progressed towards improving business and revenue growth of companies to mentoring several young people to great leaders in the society. As a brand Ambassador for AJIRY, I am still pursuing to push its agenda for employments, teach skills and impart those skills in finding a job on an enormous scale so that benefits to larger section of the society.
As your life evolves, so should your circle and therefore, it has always been my foresight to serve humanity by evolving from what I do. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to be invited as a speaker to many public forums in South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzia and other countries. Today, I am an executive committee member of the Meru Youth Taskforce, an initiative by the Meru County Government under its ministry of youths, sports, and culture, endowing people to change their lives. Having said that, I always believe that anything is possible, and anything is doable, all you need to do is push your limits with maximum energy.
It is often said that ‘Create a vision for the life you really want and then work relentlessly towards making it a reality’. Yes, this is what I exactly aim to be doing in my life, become a part of the decision-making process that has a positive impact on social and economic welfare where the youth become leaders to create more leaders like them.
To conclude, my message to the world would be that if you have a vision and a dream to accomplish something, instill the confidence and courage to do whatever it takes to reach your goal. Never give up on anything that you started. In your story of success, what stays silent is your experience with failures. You rise only after you are knocked out and you have to look up again until you are there.
