I always say that,

There are two worst things that I have done in my life.

1. Doing MLM for 2 years.

2. Going to another city for 3 months to explore my career options.

And, there are two best things that I have done in my life.

1. Doing MLM for 2 years.

2. Going to another city for 3 months to explore my career options.

Confused, right?

Let me give you the context and it will make sense.

From January 2015 to December 2016, I did MLM and did that hardcore with all my heart. Obviously, I didn’t earn anything, I lost a lot of people I used to call friends, was ghosted by many, disbelieved by tons, faced constant rejections, hate, and whatnot.

From June 2018 to August 2018, I moved to a big city thinking that I would be getting the exposure that I haven’t had till now and might give a push to my career but things went sideways.

I was doing great in my job but my health got affected badly, I didn’t make any new friends, used to sit alone during my breaks, couldn’t save any money due to big expenses, my mother used to cry over the phone and I had to come back.

So, when I look at the two years time period and three months time period, they were the worst time periods of my life. Both times, I didn’t know what to do in life, cursed myself for wasting time when I had to be the one taking full responsibility for the family.

Now, why am I saying these two are the best times of my life?

MLM taught me how to face rejections, how to become outgoing, why to do business, how to communicate well with utmost confidence, and how to sell.

My 3-month journey in another city acted as the last gate that was closed and pushed me to start my freelancing journey in digital marketing along with the job I was doing for several years with other gigs like MLM, background dancer, mathematics teacher, etc.

It followed by starting my own agency Get Catalyzed after 2.5 years of being a successful freelancer, and took the agency to 20 Lakh revenue within the first 1.5 years followed by starting another business Atmyhome an ecom store, and generating revenue of 40 Lakhs in 8 months. Apart from building two businesses, I build a strong personal brand on LinkedIn with over 12000 Followers.

If I didn’t do MLM I probably would have been stuck with the limited skillsets I have had as a teenager, and if I didn’t move to another city I would have still been doing a comfortable job and not doing something of my own which I love at the moment.

Now when I look at these time periods in a shorter timeline of 2 years and 3 months, they were the worst moments of my life but when I look at them now in a longer timeline of 8 years, I still reap the benefits of the lessons I have learned through those journeys of mine and they indeed have been the best time of my life.
