On Monday Morning, I opened my personal LinkedIn Account & I got a message from Kulbhushan (name changed), my old student. I am sharing this complete conversation so that it help to many more students.
Kulbhushan : Sir, I was a student of yours. I got selected for SIMS Pune for MBA course but I'm confused about which specialization should I choose, how? and which parameter I should study before taking my decision.plz help
Me: Which Specialization...You are interested in..? & Why..?
Kulbhushan : I was interested in HR because I was in a club called mechatron in which I have to work as administrator, secretary and also I was team captain that's why I have to do recruitment or selection of team, work distribution, work analysis and also training of juniors giving them data so that they can clear their doubt. Thought these skills of mine will very helpful as an HR. But sir I also like the operation management due to my background as a mechanical Engg.
Me: Kulbhushan, What is that one area which you think/read/feel daily.
1. HR (Helping People)
2. Operation (Solving Problem)
3. Any other..??
Kulbhushan : Both sir. But if I have to choose one, I will go with helping people.
Me: Good. Let me tell You, You can change your Career Path anytime when you want. It all depends on how you take it.
Kulbhushan: Sir, how should I know. The path i choose is it correct or not.
Me: Nobody knows about their path or ultimate outcome. And who will decide 'What is Right or Wrong".Let me share you in simple language. Kulbhushan, We always take the decision which is close to our hearts or which are logical (in our opinion). Both are okay ways.
And When You take the decision, You decide (for your decision) in your mind 'What is Right or Wrong'. Think of this-If you don't get results or expected results of a particular decision. I feel You are not a failure. If You want, You can learn from that particular experience also.
In the end, You must be knowing there is one way through which you don't get results. Ex: Thomas Edison when asked about his failures while inventing the bulb.
So My suggestion, Decide what you want and then MARRY WITH THAT GOAL, whatever happened, you will not leave that goal. You can change ACTIONS so that You get different RESULTS. But You stick to Your Goal. Stop yourself from over thinking. It will stop you from taking actions. I always say in my training, more you educated...more you become logical. Be Simple, Natural and Hungry. Do what You feel RIGHT…That's it. Also allow, the Universe to help you to achieve what You want in your life. So finally, I feel, YOU SHOULD START WORKING !.
