There is one thing that is amazing about startup life and that is the energy, passion, and emotion that it carries. Nothing brings together people so effectively other than when it comes to a common challenge, a common cause or goal.
These are only a few of the many things that you can experience when attending a Startup Weekend. All it takes is to post a few challenges and you can see how you pull together people from all walks of life, age, regardless of borders, colour or religious beliefs.
Last weekend I had the opportunity and pleasure to spend a few hours with some 30 entrepreneurs at the Demium Startup Weekend. I was only with them a few hours, to be exact from 12:00 until 17:00, helping them as a mentor and the experience I have gained in my life as an entrepreneur or what I refer to as sometimes "startup junky".
There is no initial money in startups, no one pays you and in most cases, you may have two work a double life to earn from one and spend in the other, but the spending is a joy similar to that of what you give to your children. I hesitate to say but I would be lying if I don't and the truth is that many of us give more time and energy to our startups than our children.
As much as I love my children and want to spend more time with them, the joy, energy, and life I get back from this environment is an amazing power that pulls you in without you noticing how the time goes by. What amazing energy and experience. I feel humbled having been able to listen to so many great ideas. You lit up my weekend and filled it with passion, love, and energy.
